Predicting self-injurious thoughts in daily life using ambulatory assessment of state cognition

چکیده

Self-injurious thoughts (SITs) fluctuate considerably from moment to moment. As such, “static” and temporally stable predictors (e.g., demographic variables, prior history) are suboptimal in predicting imminent SITs. This concern is particularly true for “online” cognitive abilities, which important understanding SITs, but typically measured using tests selected temporal stability. Advances ambulatory assessments (i.e., real-time assessment a naturalistic environment) allow measuring cognition with improved resolution. The present study relationships between “state” performance, an ambulatory-based Trail Making Test, Self-reported state hope social connectedness was also measured. Data were collected specially designed mobile application (administered 4x/week up 28 days) substance use inpatients (N = 99). Consistent literature, significantly associated Importantly, poorer performance predicted independent of hallmark static self-report risk variables. These findings highlight the potential importance predict Ambulatory recording reflects efficient, sensitive, ecological valid methodology evaluating subjective objectives

Assessment of self-injurious thoughts using a behavioral test.

OBJECTIVE The assessment of self-injurious thoughts has been limited by a reliance on what individuals are willing or able to report explicitly. The authors examined a new method that measures self-injurious thoughts by using individuals' reaction times to self-injury-related stimuli on a computerized test. METHOD Eighty-nine adolescents who were not self-injurious (N=36) or had recently enga...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Thought suppression and self-injurious thoughts and behaviors.

This study proposes and tests a theoretical model suggesting that the propensity to suppress unwanted thoughts is associated with an increased presence and frequency of self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (SITB). In the model, propensity to suppress unwanted thoughts is hypothesized to be a cognitive mediator of the relationship between emotional reactivity and SITB, and is expected to be rel...

Characteristics of the Activity-Affect Association in Inactive People: An Ambulatory Assessment Study in Daily Life

Acute and regular exercise as well as physical activity (PA) is related to well-being and positive affect. Recent studies have shown that even daily, unstructured physical activities increase positive affect. However, the attempt to achieve adherence to PA or exercise in inactive people through public health interventions has often been unsuccessful. Most studies analyzing the activity-affect a...

Assessment of self-harm risk using implicit thoughts.

Assessing for the risk of self-harm in acute care is a difficult task, and more information on pertinent risk factors is needed to inform clinical practice. This study examined the relationship of 6 forms of implicit cognition about death, suicide, and self-harm with the occurrence of self-harm in the future. We then attempted to develop a model using these measures of implicit cognition along ...
